Greetings Friends,

It is with a great deal of excitement that we begin our capital campaign – Lighting the Way. That is what we are called to do, we are called to be a light to the world. This campaign marks a pivotal moment in the life of our church; our goal is to make our church building a more effective and welcoming tool for mission and ministry.

Our Banners on Piney Orchard Parkway make a statement. Our church is a beacon of hope, faith, and love in this community. God calls us to work for a just world and we are answering that call. Because we are focused on justice and equity as a congregation, we have become much more aware of how many features of our campus are not as welcoming to people with disabilities as they should be.

Because our building is “well loved” and chalk full of dynamic ministries; we also have our dinks and dents, holes and tolls. As we look to the future, we recognize the need for physical spaces that reflect the vibrancy of our congregation. The building projects we are undertaking are about creating spaces where lives can be transformed, relationships can be nurtured, and God’s dream can be carried into the world.

 

As we embark on this journey together, I invite each of you to consider how you can contribute to this important work. Stewardship is an act of mission and worship, an expression of our gratitude to God for the many blessings we have received. By giving generously to this campaign, we are not only investing in the physical infrastructure of our church but also in the spiritual growth and well-being of our congregation.

In this campaign, we are coming together as a church family to achieve a common goal. We are coming together to serve each other and to live out God’s call. As we work on these projects, we will strengthen the bonds of fellowship and deepen our sense of community.

Thank you to each of you for your continued support and dedication to our church. Your generosity and commitments are what makes Ark and Dove – Ark and Dove. I am confident that, with God’s help and our collective efforts, we will achieve our goals and see our vision become a reality.

MISSION SUPPORT

Mission and Outreach…

A 10% tithe of the total raised will be designated for Annapolis Light House Homeless Prevention Center and Annapolis Immigration Justice Network, mission partners of Ark & Dove Church.

To reach our goals, we will need a range of gifts of all sizes. Gifts in these ranges will help us achieve our campaign goal of $650,000.

We ask you to prayerfully consider a meaningful and generous gift.

The pledges we receive will determine what we can accomplish.

Gifts may be given over three years and will be over and above regular giving.

HOW CAN I MAKE THIS CAMPAIGN A SUCCESS?

  • By praying for Ark & Dove Presbyterian Church.
  • By prayerfully responding to God’s gift of love with your generous gifts, OVER AND ABOVE your regular offering.
  • By returning your commitment form to the church on or before our Commitment Sunday, May 18.
  • By celebrating how we are Lighting the Way!

Give more than you thought possible. This is the benefit of giving from an asset! The monetary value of the gift typically exceeds what you might give as cash outright. In most cases, asset-based giving is as simple as assigning ownership to the church.

Here are just a few to get you thinking:

Gifts of Cash

Gifts of cash and/or gift commitments to be given over a three-year fulfillment period are welcomed. Gifts of cash are tax deductible if you itemize your deductions on Schedule A of Form 1040.

IRA Charitable Distribution

Individuals age 70.5 or older may want to consider making a gift commitment through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA to Ark & Dove. QCDs can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year. A QCD excludes the amount donated from taxable income, which is unlike regular withdrawals from an IRA. The maximum annual amount that can qualify for a QCD is $105,000. If you file taxes jointly, your spouse can also make a QCD from his or her own IRA within the same tax year for up to $105,000.

Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)

A DAF is a charitable investment account for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations. If you currently have a DAF, you may contribute a gift from this fund.

Appreciated Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds

Ark & Dove Presbyterian Church can accept gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or personal property. For example: stock purchased years ago for $5,000 could have a market value of $20,000. Rather than selling the stock and paying income tax on the $15,000 capital gain, you can transfer the stock to the church and take a tax deduction based on the market value of the stock at the time of the gift. In this way, you would maximize your gift, and minimize your tax liability.

Wills

Making an unrestricted gift or designating Ark & Dove through a will or trust is a significant expression of legacy stewardship. Designating a percentage gift in your will allows you to make a significant contribution that may not have been possible during your lifetime.

Deferred Trust Fund Gifts

There are a variety of ways to give through trust funds, which have advantages for short-term and long-term giving, as well as tax planning.

Life Insurance

There are ways you can use life insurance as a gift-giving approach. For example, you could give the cash value accumulated in a policy or donate the annual dividends of a policy. Consider making Ark & Dove the full or partial beneficiary of a policy that has outlived its original purpose.

Employer Matching Gifts

Double the impact of your donation! Your gift to Ark & Dove could be matched dollar for dollar by your employer. Some employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees, retirees and/or employees’ spouses. Contact the Human Resources Department of your company to find out if they have a matching gift program.
